For the third time in his amateur career, Taylor Beckwith will race in Loretta Lynn’s Motocross National Championship in Tennessee. Beckwith, who previously raced in 2017 and 2019 will be amongst thousands of racers in search of championship.

The 16-year-old, entering junior year of high school at Smith Vocational, will be competing in the 250b and 250b Limited events, looking to improve on his placings in years prior.

“It’s pretty cool [to be here]. It’s what we work for all year round. I’d like to be mid-pack this time around, but I’m not hoping for anything huge,” he said. “I feel a lot better now than I have in years past. It’s tough to do really well, but I always have to try hard and hope to God I’m up front.”

His 14-year-old brother Cody is joining him for the first time after watching his brother from the sidelines over the last four years.

Despite his lack of experience at the event in comparison to his older brother, Cody doesn’t feel any pressure, and is ready to perform in his 125c and 250c categories.

“Not really,” Cody said when asked if he’s nervous ahead of his first championship appearance. “I’m just ready. It’s really cool that I’m here.”

In preparation for this event, Cody’s father worked extensively with him to both encourage and help develop all of the skills required to make it to this point in his career at such a young age.

“My dad and I have been training really hard,” Cody said. “He’s been pushing me harder and harder, and it’s paid off.”

“He’s gotten a lot better [the past few years],” Taylor added. “He’s finally starting to take it seriously which is pretty cool to see.”

Taylor and Cody’s mother, Ashley Pease, dreamed of seeing both of her sons participate at Loretta Lynn’s together but never thought it’d come to fruition. Now that it has, Pease is as proud as can be despite how unimaginable it still seems.

“It’s amazing,” Pease said. “It’s almost surreal. We never thought it would happen. We had always hoped but never thought they’d be here at the same time.”
