NORTHAMPTON — A suspect in a robbery Saturday morning at the TD Bank branch on Main Street was arrested around noon Sunday in Springfield, police said.

Sean Moynihan, 42, who has no permanent address, was arrested at the bus terminal by Springfield police on a warrant out of Northampton on a charge of armed robbery. Northampton Detective Andrew Carney said police received tips on the identity of the robber after posting a notice about the crime on the department’s Facebook page with security camera images of the suspect.

After his arrest, Moynihan was brought to Northampton, where he was booked and questioned by Northampton police. Carney said Moynihan admitted to his involvement in the robbery.

The robbery was carried out at about 8:54 a.m. Saturday, according to police.

“The male handed the teller a note which stated he had a firearm, but no firearm was seen,” the department posted.

The man left with an unspecified amount of cash, police said.

Moynihan is expected to be arraigned in Northampton District Court Monday morning.
