HOLYOKE — A strong storm blew down trees and cut power for hundreds of city residents Monday.

The brief storm knocked over a large tree on Yale Street and another on Lincoln Street, as well as power lines on Lincoln Street, Allyn Street and off Nonotuck Street, according to social media posts.

Holyoke Gas and Electric's power outage map showed that nearly half of Ward 7B's 1,233 electric customers were without power at 3:45 p.m.

HG&E and the city’s fire department did not immediately return phone messages left Monday afternoon.
