South Hadley girls finish second at state MIAA Division 5 indoor track championship

South Hadley finished second with 36 points at the state Division 5 girls indoor track and field championships, Friday night at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston.

Littleton won with 49 points. North Reading, Oakmont and Amesbury tied for third with 35.

The Tigers were tied for fourth through five events and fell to ninth through 11 events.

The difference maker for the Tigers was the relay teams.

The 4x800 team of Morgan Harrington, Anna Moriarty, Sarah Fudger and Jocelyne Rondeau finished second in 9 minutes, 59.70 seconds.

The 4x400 team of Harrington, Kyra Shoenfeld, Lindsay Marjanski and Fudger finished third in 4:15.10.

Fudger also placed second in the 600 (1:39.91), while Rondeau was sixth in the 1,000 (3:07.58).

Savannah Sudyka was third in the shot put (35 feet, 2 inches). Lindsay Marjanski tied for third in the high jump (4-10).

The South Hadley boys 4x200 relay team of Sean O’Grady, Shane Smith, Evan Petrosky and Jack Dawson finished fifth in 1:36.90. The Tigers tied for 35th out of 43 teams.

Pope Francis senior Haley Sullivan (Easthampton) was eighth in the mile (5:27.06).
