Norman Spencer: Beware of misinformation on social media

Published: 3/26/2020 2:41:32 PM

The authoritative New England Journal of Medicine, a publication of the Massachusetts Medical Society, in its March 5 issue, reported the following: In late January, an asymptomatic visitor from China flew to a business associate in Munich. They met, sometimes together with others, for two days. He, his guest, and three of his employees, only one of whom had been at the meetings, did not have symptoms until after the guest had returned home. Those five weren’t found positive until several days after her return to Shanghai.

NPR News recently reported that misinformation, opportunists with their own agendas and scams are infecting social media. If you use social media, then be forewarned and remain aware. For general information, the following sites supplied by the Massachusetts Medical Society should be reliable: ready.gov/pandemic and mass.gov/know-plan-prepare.
