The voters decide:

Amherst Town Charter Revision

On Tuesday, March 27, 2018, the voters of Amherst will decide whether to change the way they govern themselves. Currently, the town of roughly 38,000 is run by an elected 254-representative Town Meeting (the legislative body), an elected five-member Select Board (chief executive officers) and an appointed town manager (the chief administrative officer). The revised charter would change that governance structure to an elected 13-member Town Council and an appointed town manager (the chief executive officer), and make other changes, as well.
