Southampton clinches 14U Suburban softball title, unbeaten season

The Southampton Raiders claimed the 14U Suburban Softball championship with a 15-0 win over Greenfield in five innings Thursday at Norris Elementary in Southampton.

Jocelyn Mettey allowed just one hit and struck out eight to pick up the win. She added two hits, including a triple.

Katelyn Baker had four hits for the Raiders, who finished the season unbeaten at 12-0.

Mckenzie McCarthy doubled and tripled on a three-hit day. Abby McClaflin homered and tripled.

Ella Malanson tripled.

Correction — Ella Forest scored a goal and had an assist as Hampshire beat West Springfield, 2-1 in overtime, Saturday at Lusitano Stadium in Ludlow to win the Pioneer Valley Summer Soccer League Girls B Division championship.

Forest and Hampshire’s opponent were misidentified in Monday’s Gazette.
