SOUTHAMPTON – Mail-in ballots sent out prior to Aug. 20 for the  Sept. 1 Southampton Town Election contained a typo that’s causing the Town Clerk’s Office to send out replacements.

“It’s gotta be done,” said Town Clerk Luci Dalton. “We just don’t want people to be confused.”

The incorrect ballot instructs voters to vote for four candidates for the William E. Norris School Committee for three-year terms. However, the proper instruction is for voters to vote for three candidates.

Incumbents Jon Lumbra, Allison Radon and Austin Rogers are all running for re-election, and challenger Katie Chilson is also running for a seat on the committee.

Everyone sent an incorrect ballot will be sent a new one, including those who have already turned their ballots in. Any town election ballot that’s been mailed or turned in won’t be counted, Dalton said.
