NORTHAMPTON — Police arrested two people Monday after they allegedly broke a light fixture and a store window on Main Street.

Police Chief Jody Kasper wrote in a post on the department’s Facebook page that officers responded to Shop Therapy at 7:48 p.m. for reports of a male who had smashed a plate glass window. While police investigated, additional officers were sent to Absolute Zero Ice Cream at 229 Main St. for a report of a vandalized light fixture, Kasper said.

After officers reviewed store surveillance footage and interviewed witnesses, they determined a man and a woman allegedly vandalized the light and the store.

Steven Joseph Lord, 24, of Williamsburg, and Brionna E. Perrea, 24, whose address was provided as the streets of Northampton, were both arrested for vandalizing property, according to Northampton police logs. Police Detective Lt. Craig Kirouac said authorities believe Lord kicked in the window and Perrea vandalized the light. The two had been in a verbal argument with one another, Kirouac said.
