NORTHAMPTON — A search for a missing man last week prompted police to call in a state police aircraft.

At 2:27 p.m. on Thursday, Northampton police got a report of a missing and possibly endangered person.

“We initially believed that he could possibly be in the old Willard’s pit, somewhere in there,” Staff Sgt. Josef Barszcz said Thursday night. Police did not find the missing man there and continued the search. They later called in the Massachusetts State Police Air Wing for assistance.

The middle-aged man was found on Ryan Road around 7:15 p.m. Thursday. No crime occurred, police said. The man was transported to the hospital, though police said he had suffered no serious injuries.

Police were unable to give more details because it was classified as a medical call.
