In answer to the lady who asked where have all the blue jays gone, I haven’t seen one since late October or November. I don’t know where they went; usually I have blue jays all winter devouring a great deal of feed. Regulars at my feeders are Downy, Hairy and Red-Bellied woodpeckers; chickadees and juncos; Red-Breasted and White-Breasted Nuthatches; Tufted Titmouse(s); one pair of cardinals; and a flock of about 20 mourning doves.

But the numbers seem down this year compared to previous winters, even the doves; last year I had a flock of about 40. I hope this too isn’t related to global warming.
