The Harvard-UMass men’s basketball series has been extended and the two teams will play in Amherst this season. UMass athletic director Ryan Bamford said the schools are finalizing the length of the extension, but “both teams have an interest in playing every year.”

UMass is playing in the 2018 Las Vegas Holiday Invitational, an event that’s running concurrently with the Las Vegas Invitational at the Orleans Arena. The rest of the Vegas portion of the field includes Nevada, Tulsa and Southern Illinois.

The Wolfpack (29-8 in 2017-18) advanced to the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 and could be highly ranked depending on if Jordan Caroline, and twins Caleb and Cody Martin, who have each declared for the NBA draft without an agent, return to school.

The games are Nov. 22-23 (Thanksgiving and Black Friday). Times and TV (expected to be FOX Sports) haven’t been finalized.

UMass’ home games for 2018-19 include: Harvard, Holy Cross (completing the two-for-one series), Quinnipiac (completing the home-and-home) and UMass-Lowell. There will be two additional home games connected to the Las Vegas event. The remaining two games will be home buy games (single-game contracts) against smaller conference opponents with no return.

The Minutemen have road games at Temple, Providence and Georgia.

Further down the road, UMass will be in the 2019 Hall of Fame Tipoff at Mohegan Sun. The rest of the field hasn’t been announced yet. The Minutemen’s home games against South Carolina and Rutgers, which were originally set for 2018, have been pushed back to 2019 because of date conflicts.
