Join reproductive rights rally

On Saturday, from 1 to 3 p.m., there will be “Our Bodies Our Justice” rally at City Hall in Springfield to protect access to reproductive health care. I write this letter in solidarity and ask you to join us.

Women’s reproductive rights are under attack. Planned Parenthood could be defunded. It is imperative that we keep this community health nonprofit organization alive to provide safe and accessible reproductive health services to millions of women. It is essential that we maintain Planned Parenthood as the largest single provider of health services in the United States.

For many neighborhoods in America these health centers serve as the only means by which women can receive affordable care and resources covering sexual and reproductive health. Globally they provide health services, reproductive education, technology and advocacy on behalf of women’s reproductive rights.

Roe v. Wade could be overturned with the nomination of Judge Gorsuch.

We women need to stand up and stand firm. We are the authority and only authors of the choices we make with our bodies. We must stretch ourselves in consciousness and action.

Be outspoken and firm in our “no” and mean it unequivocally. The Anglo-Saxon root of the word “no” means none, not any. Let’s mean it. This is our deep power, a root we must hold within ourselves and attach to one another to grow firm. Let’s stand together, strengthen our quest and hold Planned Parenthood and Roe v. Wade as branches to our biological authority to our reproductive rights.

This is a real immediate threat. Join the voices on Saturday for the “Our Bodies Our Justice” rally in body, mind and spirit — however you can support, protect us.
