SOUTHAMPTON — Over 50 veterans and active duty personnel with family connections to Norris Elementary School were honored in a Veterans Day assembly Friday. It was the 20th year for the special tradition at the school and the morning started off with breakfast for the veterans and their families served by parent volunteers. The entire school then gathered for a program in the gymnasium where each veteran introduced him or herself, with many taking the opportunity to say a few words about their service and thank the students. The celebration closed with the singing of “This Land Is Your Land.”
