AMHERST — Puffer’s Pond in North Amherst reopened for swimming Wednesday after the town received tests showing that the water is again safe.

Assistant Town Manager David Ziomek said the public is welcome to return to the site, which has implemented social distancing and has staff on duty daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The pond was closed to swimming a week earlier, and was closed through the Independence Day weekend when water tests revealed E. coli bacteria at levels higher than state limits.
