Preps/Colleges: Williston boys soccer advances to NEPSAC Class B semifinals

Marco Cerezo scored twice as the Williston-Northampton boys soccer team beat Rivers, 2-1, in the NEPSAC Class B Tournament quarterfinals, Wednesday in Easthampton.

Hector Samayoa and Martin Machon each had one assist as the fourth-seeded Wildcats advanced to play top seed South Kent in the semifinals, Saturday at Loomis Chaffee.

Girls soccer

Pingree 4, Williston 1 — The eighth-seeded Wildcats took a 1-0 lead on a goal from Cristina Negron (Easthampton), but the top seeds pulled away for the NEPSAC Class B quarterfinal win.

Field hockey

Brooks 2, Williston 1 (OT) — Natalie Stott scored from Maeve Reynolds, but the fourth-seeded Wildcats fell in the NEPSAC Class B quarterfinals at home.

CollegesWomen’s basketball

Smith 84, Salve Regina 43 — Katelyn Pickunka (Westhampton) scored a career-high 24 points and added six rebounds as the Pioneers opened the season with the road win.

Ally Yamada added 13 points, while Amelia Clairemont and Morgan Morrison each had 10.
