COLRAIN — Police are investigating the death of two people in connection with a vehicular incident in Colrain Saturday morning.
The two people were a man and a woman, both in their 30s and local to Franklin County, according to the Northwestern District Attorney's Office. Their names or any further identifying information were not available.
Police discovered the two already deceased Saturday morning in the water near the convergence of the North River and the Foundry Brook, according to the District Attorney's Office. Nearby was a Jeep that had entered the water.
The incident is under investigation, but no foul play is suspected, said the District Attorney's Office. The exact cause of death will be determined by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
The Colrain Police Department on Saturday alluded to the incident in two posts on its Facebook page. However, the two posts did not provide any information beyond what was provided by the District Attorney's Office.
The Colrain Police did not respond to a voicemail on Sunday.
The Massachusetts State Police, which is also investigating, declined to comment, and deferred to the District Attorney's Office.
