S. Hadley resident, 88, ID’d as man killed by car Wednesday

SOUTH HADLEY — The pedestrian struck and killed by a car on Wednesday has been identified as Michihiro Yoshida of South Hadley.

Yoshida, 88, was struck at around 10:15 a.m. at 29 College St., in the area of the Village Commons near Mount Holyoke College.

Following the accident, police said that the driver was cooperating and that no charges had been filed.

According to Mary Carey, a spokesperson for the Northwestern district attorney’s office, the incident remains under investigation by South Hadley Police, Massachusetts State Police attached to the Northwestern district attorney’s office and state police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, the DA’s office stated in a release.
