HADLEY — L.L. Bean announced Wednesday that it will open its new Mountain Farms Mall store on Oct. 18.

The new retail space off Route 9 will employ about 50 people, the Freeport, Maine-based outdoor apparel company said in a statement. It will open at 9 a.m. and the first 200 customers will draw an L.L. Bean gift card that could be valued up to $500.

The company is also donating $10,000 to the National Park Foundation toward conservation programs at New England Scenic Trail, which passes through the Holyoke Range.

L.L. Bean Outdoor Discovery Programs will host year-round programming at the store, including guest speakers, hiking and biking outings, map and compass clinics, community service activities and product demonstrations, the company said.

During the store’s opening weekend, the company plans on celebrating with campfires, s’mores, live music and more, the statement said.

The store will be about 15,000 square feet and is the first L.L. Bean in western Massachusetts. Five Guys Burgers and Fries and 110 Grill are also planned for nearby spaces.
