NORTHAMPTON — Police are continuing to investigate a series of break-ins to both locked and unlocked vehicles that have been reported since Aug. 5.

The ninth vehicle break-in over the past three weeks was reported to police at 6:55 a.m. Thursday.

Capt. John Cartledge said the incident, which occurred at a Florence Road home, remains under investigation. Because no suspects have yet been identified, it’s not known if the incident is connected to previous break-ins, Cartledge said.

Many of the break-ins, which have included entry through smashed windows, have been taking place during daytime hours, with property stolen including iPhones, money, wallets and purses.

Locations where they have occurred include King Street, North Street, Fruit Street, West Street, Jackson Street and Main Street in the Leeds section of the city.

In addition to the break-ins, a vehicle was reported stolen from Lilly Street in Florence on Wednesday.
