NORTHAMPTON — A city man arrested this week on four counts of possession of child pornography pleaded not guilty to the charges at his arraignment in Northampton District Court Friday, according to the Northwestern district attorney’s office.

Jorge Quinones, 45, of 195 Main St., Apt. 3B, was ordered held on $15,000 cash bail at the arraignment, held via Zoom before Judge William Rooney, said Mary Carey, spokeswoman for the DA’s Office.  A Spanish interpreter was provided at the proceedings for Quinones.

Quinones was arrested Thursday morning at his home after allegedgly posting child exploitation images online, according to police. He was taken into custody by detectives and officers from the Northampton Police Department who went to his home with a search warrant.

The warrant was obtained following an alert to an officer who is a member of the Internet Crimes Against Children, acting on a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, according to police.

If Quinones is released, he will be required to follow a series of conditions, including providing the Department of Probation with his current address and all phone numbers.

In addition, he is to have no unsupervised direct or indirect contact with any child under the age of 18 in any manner, including physical contact, verbal contact or contact by electronic means, shall not reside with or spend any overnights where there is a child under the age of 18, and shall not be employed or participate in any volunteer activity where he would have contact with any child under the age of 18.

Carey said the investigation remains active, with a number of devices that still need to be forensically examined.
