Northampton Intermediate beats Auburn for sectional baseball title

Northampton made short work of Auburn in the Little League baseball Intermediate District 2 sectional round.

Marty Maslowski struck out seven in four innings of work and went 4-for-4 with a double in 13-3 win shortened to five innings by the mercy rule. Northampton will play Lincoln Sudbury on Saturday in a three-game series for the state championship.

Cody West pitched ⅓ of an inning, and Caleb Steiniger struck out three in ⅔ of an inning to close the game.

Jake Elliot went 4-for-4 with a double and a triple.

Cayden Payne singled and doubled, scoring two runs.

Pete Sullivan was 2-for-2, while Liam Flynn singled and scored a run.

Northampton won the series’ first game 12-4 on Saturday in Auburn.

Belchertown 15, Southampton 11 — Brady Perkins hit a three-run homer and scored three times to help Belchertown advance to the 10-12 Little League District 2 final.

Belchertown rallied from a 7-0 deficit in the first inning. The team scored seven runs in the fifth inning to take the lead.

Kainoa David and Ian MacDonald (three runs) each had four hits and drove in a run.

Adam Campbell drove in three runs on two hits, including a double.

Derek Gould (double), Zach Buffone and Charlie Fijal all had two hits and two RBIs.

Southampton’s Will Hogan was 3-for-4 with a home run, double and triple for three RBIs.

Aidan Miklasiewicz also homered on a two-hit day.

Jacob Sicard added three hits, while Jack Boyle and Jack Dawson each singled twice.

Belchertown will play at Amherst on Wednesday at 6 p.m.

Amherst 11, Frontier 3 — Quentin Moliterno hit an RBI double and scored twice, as Amherst prevailed in Mickey Mantle play.

Eli Slovin (two runs) and Ezrah Lambert both hit RBI singles.

Will Andresen got the win in relief, striking out five in four innings of work for Amherst (9-1).

Softball

Frontier Red 13, Easthampton 7 — Cassidi Mushenski had two hits and two RBIs in a 12U Subruban home win for Frontier Red.

Holly Myers allowed just one hit in five innings, contributing two hits, including a triple, and two RBIs at the plate.

Lucia Doulette singled twice and drove in a run.

Anna Dyjach and Jessica Campbell added two hits each for Frontier Red (3-2).
