Post 28 walks off to 8th straight win

Andy Gryforcewicz hit a walk off single in the bottom of the seventh Saturday, driving in Nate Kelley to lift the Northampton Post 28 American Legion Baseball team to a 3-2 win over Aldenville Post 337 at Arcanum Field.

It was Northampton’s eighth straight win.

Kelley walked to lead off the bottom of the seventh then stole second. Pinch hitter Will Shaw struck out swinging but reached first on a passed ball, while Kelley went to third. Post 337 intentionally walked Jackson Heath to load the bases. Grygorcewicz singled to left field to end the game.

Northampton (8-4) trailed 2-0 entering the sixth. Grygorcewicz and Patrick Serio executed a double steal, and Grygorcewicz scored from third. Serio moved from second to third on an infield single by Bouley then tied the game on a wild pitch.

Bouley also picked up the win in relief, pitching the final 2⅓ innings and allowing just two hits with two strikeouts. Jake Brittain started the game and pitched 4⅔ innings. He allowed five hits and two runs (one earned).

Devontay Edmonds also singled.

Greenfield Post 81 11, Longmeadow 0 — Jacob Berry and Kalen Evans combined for a shutout on the mound, and the offense scored five runs in the second inning and six more in the third to put things out of reach Sunday.

Berry struck out five in three innings and Evans recorded a trio of strikeouts in his two innings of work for Greenfield (9-3) .

Garrett DeForest also had two hits and drove in three runs, including a bomb to left field that hit the fence at Vets and went for a long double.

Bryan Baumann, Connor Waitkus (RBI), Ben Arnold (RBI) and Evans (RBI) singled.

Mickey Mantle

Mohawk 14, South Hadley 8 — South Hadled led 7-4 after five innings Sunday but allowed 10 runs in the final two innings.

Frontier 7, Westfield 4 — Aidan Falla doubled, tripled and drove in two runs Saturday in Deerfield.

Ben Martino and Gehrig Brinda (double) each had two hits and drove in a run for Frontier (8-3). Alec Kirkendall and Tom Alber singled, while Max Edwards doubled (two hits). Tyler Baranowski (RBI) drove in a run.

Sandy Koufax

Northampton 6, Westfield 1 — Trevor Maslowski had an RBI triple and struck out three to pick up the win Sunday, keeping Northampton unbeaten.

Brady McDonald doubled and scored twice.

Dillon Moggio added an RBI single.

Cayden Payne, Marty Maslowski and Liam Flynn touched home for Northampton (14-0).

Trey Rios, Billy Haber and Drew Michna singled.
