What a way to start the legion baseball season.

In the top of the eighth inning with the game tied at five, Aiden Keeling-Lococo ripped a double to bring home Elijah Rubinstein, who served as the game-winning run.

Aiden Zera then got out of a jam with a runner on third base and one out to give Northampton Post 28 a 6-5 win over Aldenville in their American Legion Senior Division opener on Monday night at Szot Park in Chicopee.

Rubinstein opened the inning with a single and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Tim Walko before Keeling-Lococo doubled over the right fielder.

Griffin Smiarowski got the start for Post 28, going a strong five innings – allowing one earned run and just two hits. He struck out five and walked three in a no decision. Keeling-Lococo and Rubinstein had two hits for the winners while Liam Flynn had a two-run single.
