Muzzy Field, the home of the Bristol Blues, will host the 2024 NECBL All-Star Game this Sunday. Both starters and reserves were announced this week, with the Valley Blue Sox grabbing four spots on the West roster – all reserves.

All-Star Game festivities will start at 2:45 pm on Sunday with the Home Run Derby. The All-Star Game is scheduled for a first pitch at 5:10 pm. The game itself will be live on ESPN-Plus and the Home Run Derby will be broadcast live on the NECBL Network free-of-charge, powered by HudlTV.

The West Division consists of the Upper Valley Nighthawks, Vermont Mountaineers, KeeneSwampBats, North Adams SteepleCats, Bristol Blues, Danbury Westerners and Valley Blue Sox. Including starters and reserves, Bristol and Keene lead the way with six players each, followed by Upper Valley with five, Vermont and Valley with four each, and Danbury and North Adams with two per team.

Vermont Mountaineers manager Mitchell Holmes and his coaching staff got the nod to coach the West.

Greg Shaw (relief pitcher), Logan Hugo (outfield), Michael O’Conor (designated hitter) and Jonathan Hogart (coach’s choice) are the four selections for the Blue Sox. Shaw has pitched in five games this season, tossing a bullpen-high 26.2 innings while striking out 16 on six runs. His ERA is 2.02.

Hugo has appeared in every game for Valley, swinging .289 in his team-high 114 at-bats this summer. His 33 hits are second on the team to O’Conor, who’s .337 batting average, five home runs and 21 RBIs have given the Blue Sox huge pop in the top half of their lineup. Hogart’s seven long shots and 29 RBIs were too much to leave off the roster as well, as he earned the coach’s choice from the Mountaineers’ staff.

Hogart also was named as one of the 13 Home Run Derby participants, and his multi-home run performance last Thursday against Danbury helped solidify his spot in the event.
