HADLEY — A violin concert on the Hadley commons is set for Friday at noon.

As part of the Senior Center’s celebration of Older Americans Month, members of the Violin Studio of Lynn Newdome of Florence will be playing on the grassy area along West Street just south of Route 9.

The event is free and open to the public. Free ice cream and water will also be available, but people should call the Council on Aging at 586-4023, ext. 6 if they intend to come for an accurate headcount.

People enjoying the concert are also encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and bagged lunches.

The studio brings together young people and adults to play an assortment of music, including classical, jazz and rock, and fiddle styles such as Celtic, Klezmer and bluegrass.

Newdome previously organized a Labor Day neighborhood concert, called the Cloverdale Porch Fest, in Florence last year.

A similar outdoor concert in Hadley may take place again later in the year.
