Add another event to Michael Hixon’s program at the 2017 FINA World Championships.

The Amherst native and his sychronized diving partner Sam Dorman will represent team USA in Budapest after winning the men’s three meter at the USA Diving Synchronized National Championships on Wednesday in Atlanta.

Hixon and Dorman scored 86.70 on an inward 3½ somersault tuck and finished with a total of 809.31 points. The Rio silver medalists scored 79 or more points on three of their dives in the final.

Lyle Yost and Noah Duperre took second with 643.53 points.

The 2017 FINA World Championships will take place from July 14-22.

Hixon, a redshirt junior at Indiana, will also compete in the 1-meter individual event after winning the USA Diving Winter National Championship in December.
