NORTHAMPTON – U.S. Rep. Jim McGovern, D-Worcester, has announced that Koby Gardner-Levine will serve as his new district representative in Northampton.

An Amherst native, Gardner-Levine will act as the primary point of contact for McGovern’s constituents in the Pioneer Valley.

“I’m thrilled to welcome Koby to our team,” McGovern said in a statement. “My office strives to provide the best possible service to residents of Massachusetts’ Second District, and I know that Koby’s deep roots in the Pioneer Valley and passion for serving his community will help us continue that tradition as he begins this role.”

Gardner-Levine earned his master's degree in environmental science and Policy from Clark University in Worcester. Previously he interned at McGovern’s Worcester and Northampton offices.

“I have always admired Congressman McGovern’s leadership in our community,” Gardner-Levine said. “I look forward to joining his team and being an advocate for the people of the Second District.”

The addition of Gardner-Levine comes two weeks after McGovern announced the promotions of Jon Niedzielski to district director and Kelly Brissette to deputy district director. Niedzielski and Brissette oversee all operations and staff in McGovern’s district offices in Northampton, Worcester and Leominster.

Niedzielski replaced McGovern’s longtime district director Kathleen Polanowicz. He earlier served as deputy chief of staff and district director for former congressman John Olver and  was appointed by President Barack Obama in 2013 to serve as Massachusetts state executive director of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Farm Service Agency.

Brissette has worked with McGovern since 2009, most recently as district scheduler.

Gardner-Levine can be reached at or at (413)-341-8700. Niedzielski can be reached at and Brissette at
