Regarding the Hadley Board of Health, Select Board member Joyce Chunglo stated that she is in favor of having the BOH members be appointed rather than elected because she wants to make sure that the members are qualified and that they understand the work that needs to be done. What am I not understanding here? Susan Mosler was elected to be on this committee. She is a physician who has been in practice for more than 35 years. Dr. Mosler is certainly qualified and surely understands what needs to be done. What troubles me is that this appears to be retribution for the board’s recommendation that there be a COVID-19 ambassador (paid for through the federal CARES Act) and some form of enforcement of the mask order. Select Board members, with the exception of Jane Nevinsmith, are against having an ambassador and enforcing the mask order. Why?
