Local softball: Southampton advances to 12U Suburban League title game

Katie Collins went 3-for-3 with four RBIs, and the Southampton 12U softball team beat visiting Greenfield, 6-1, at Parker Field Tuesday to advance to the Suburban League championship game.

Emma Czarniecki struck out seven and allowed one run on two hits over four innings to earn the win. She also had two hits.

Avery Brooks pitched three innings, and allowed a hit and a walk with two strikeouts.

Moja Premny, Nora Hamel and Hailey Wodecki each singled for Southampton.

The Heat will play either Frontier Red or Agawam in the championship game. Their game Tuesday was postponed to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Fields in Agawam.

West Springfield 4, Southampton 0 — Lily Dufresne and Ella Melanson each had hits in a 14U Suburban playoff semifinal loss.

Jocelyn Mettey struck out four and took the loss.
