I was disappointed to read yet another opinion piece about gender medical care for transgender young people. Nov. 13-19 has been designated Transgender Awareness Week. Rather than affirming transgender adults and children readers were subjected to criticism about parental decisions to assist their children who identify as transgender. I can't imagine the Gazette printing an opinion piece regarding any other medical decisions parents make for their children. I felt that the piece was inappropriate, and hurtful to families who love and support their children who identify as transgender. I would like to see an article in the Gazette that welcomes and celebrates our transgender community members — adults and young people.
