Let the record state that the Daily Hampshire Gazette did not endorse a candidate for president. The role of a newspaper is to share its opinion on the consequential news of the day to help guide readers in making important decisions affecting their lives. What could have possibly been more consequential to our democracy than the 2024 election?

As a longtime subscriber to this newspaper, and a strong advocate of independent community journalism, I am greatly disappointed in this newspaper. Gazette: You threw away your shot. To be silent is to be complicit.
