The River Valley Co-op is weighing a highly divisive proposal to boycott Israeli goods. I write to strongly oppose this initiative, which to my mind goes well beyond the co-op’s progressive mission.

The proposal is nothing but virtue signaling. It is hard to imagine that boycotting a few Israeli goods will have any impact on Israeli foreign policy. A stronger boycott would target American goods, as the U.S. provides military supplies to Israel.
