A Sept. 13 Gazette article reports that Gov. Maura Healey, in June, “launched a $1 million, taxpayer-funded initiative designed to discourage people seeking help from ‘crisis pregnancy centers’ … which the administration dubbed ‘anti-abortion’” [“‘Crisis pregnancy centers’ sue state”].

“We are going to continue to stand strong for reproductive freedom here in Massachusetts,” Healey said. “Freedom” in this context seems to mean freedom to do only what the governor and state approve, i.e. abortion. True freedom of choice requires an actual choice. The governor (and state) should be helping people by offering a real choice, assisting not only those who desire the termination of a pregnancy, but also those who wish to bring a baby safely to term.
