With all the things to be unhappy about these days, I am happy to report my experience as a cyclist in the Belchertown-Granby-Amherst area this summer.

I have found drivers almost uniformly courteous, giving me a wide berth, slowing and even sometimes stopping and signaling for me to cross at intersections when it is safe. Whether it is the smattering of “Give cyclists 4 feet clearance” signs, or more drivers themselves becoming cyclists, or something else, it’s much appreciated!

So keep up the good work drivers, stay off your cellphones, and cyclists, please remember to follow the rules of the road yourselves.
