How many readers know about Northampton Neighbors? How many of you are familiar with the free services they provide? Ever since I joined NN, before the pandemic, I have met so many wonderful people who have provided services to me — many have become friends, and membership is also free.
I have received rides, had curtains hung, batteries changed, holes fixed to keep out mice, and gardening help, just to mention a few services. Since membership is free, services are free. And since all services are free, how can NN continue to operate?
The answer to that is contributions. Those made by individuals or families who are appreciative of the support provided to their loved ones. The mission of NN is to provide support for those who prefer to age in place. The really biggest event for fundraising is the DoozyDo parade.
DoozyDo is a fun experience for those of us who participate in the parade. We think, since it is a community event meant to inspire fun, with the end result of bringing us all together, we’d like everyone reading this, member or not, to join us on Sept. 21 to watch or participate in our event.
I have participated with my family for two years, and this year will be the largest family contingent yet. I might add also that I am disabled, and my son-in-law pushed my wheelchair up Main Street both years. If you wish to join us, let NN know, and decide for yourself whether you want to contribute to this wonderful event or just join us.
Remember that through the contributions made to NN we can continue to operate free through the wonderful work done by volunteers.
