Like a dream come true

I read with such joy the article, “Like a dream come true” [Gazette, July 5], about the 55 new American citizens who pledged an oath to support and defend the Constitution. This happened within a week of our Supreme Court shredding our Constitution by changing the presidency to a dictatorship.

This at the same time the Republican Party will be nominating a narcissistic sociopath con man as their candidate for president. Despite the fact that he was convicted by a jury of his peers on 34 felony counts; found guilty of sexual assault by another jury. A man who lied 30,000 times during his four years as president.

A man whose company he inherited was found guilty of financial fraud and has to pay millions in fines. A man who is barred from running a charity in the state of New York because he stole from the one he did run. The list goes on and on. The man even cheats at golf.

I truly hope that our 55 new citizens find the joy and happiness they were seeking. There is a very good chance that Trump gets reelected as president. If he does, the country these new citizens joined will not be the same country that they came to. I urge them to vote blue up and down the ticket as their contribution to saving this country from a dictatorship.
