Joseph Blumenthal: Is the bank protest sensible?

Regarding the demonstration against Chase Bank scheduled for Tuesday, March 21 to protest their involvement in the oil business: how many of the participants will be arriving in town in gasoline powered vehicles?

I know that global warming is a huge threat to our environment, and that oil companies have been anything but constructive in their response. But given that we are probably a decade away from mass reliance on electric vehicles, and that even after that oil will be necessary for making plastics which have many important and legitimate uses in modern life, does it make any sense to protest providing financing for the oil companies?
