The elementary school project that would have been completed in 2019 had a total estimated cost of $67.2 million, of which the town would have paid $33.2 million with a grant from the MSBA of $34 million. The current elementary school project, if it is allowed to reach completion, is estimated to be finished by 2026 at a total estimated cost of $108 million, with the cost divided between a grant from the MSBA and town funding. It is what it is. All we can do is work with what we have in front of us. New day, new project. But one of the prominent citizen voices who deemed the first school project as unsuitable using moving target arguments, including fiscal ones, is accusing School Superintendent Morris of “completely abandoning” his fiscal responsibility by moving forward on the high school track project. Know your facts. Be careful who you give credence to. Especially when it comes to fault finding.
