Thérèse Soukar Chehade: Scientists should be able to ask questions

While I could tout my own liberal credentials to complicate the doctor’s response, I’ll hold back. I’m afraid Dr. Berkowitz’s Jan. 1 letter (“Columnist pushes ‘pseudo-scientific’ fraud”) illustrates exactly what my column laments: That scientists and others cannot ask certain questions without being smeared with harsh labels — “pseudo-scientists,” “disgraceful,” and Koch-funded to describe Bhattacharya, Gupta and Kulldorff; now “irresponsible.”

For those who are interested in engaging with the science, you will want to check “COVID Balance: A Blog for Balanced Discussion of COVID 19 Data and Policy,” a forum created by four UMass professors who, like me, are concerned about the shutting down of legitimate scientific debate around the pandemic.
