A combined no-hitter from Josh Misiaszek and Ryan Gould, and 10 hits on offense propelled the Belchertown Post 239 Senior American Legion baseball team to a dominant 9-1 victory over Aldenville Post 337 in a rematch of last year’s District 3 title game on Monday evening at Belchertown High School. The victory marked Post 239’s third in a row.

Misiaszek earned the start, pitching four innings and striking out six while walking only one and giving up an unearned run. Gould took it from there, tossing the remaining three frames. He fanned five hitters and walked two while surrendering no runs and no hits.

Pitching has been a strong suit for Post 239 (5-1) through six games, as in all five of their wins they’ve given up only one run or less.

Misiaszek (triple) then added two RBIs, a run and got on base three times at the plate. Chace Earle also ripped a triple, drove in three runs and scored twice, Spencer Waite (two runs, one RBI) had three hits including a double while Ian McDonald (two runs), Jake Waller (RBI), Dom Aloisi (walk) and Brodie Funk (run) each hit safely in the win.

Belchertown plated four runs in the first, three in the fourth and two more in the sixth to provide plenty of run support for its arms on the mound.

Up next for Post 239 is a home game against Pittsfield Post 68 No. 2 on Wednesday, with first pitch coming at 5:45 p.m.

Northampton Post 28 12, North Adams Post 125 2 (5) — Northampton improved to 4-1 on the season with a five-inning mercy rule win over North Adams on Monday evening at Arcanum Field in Florence.

Liam Flynn got the win for Post 28, going four innings and allowing one run (not earned). Flynn walked three and struck out seven before Asher Garretson pitched the final inning for Northampton – allowing one run and one hit.
