Cites Lindsay Sabadosa’s positions, coalitions

As the dust has risen, settled and will probably rise again in the race for state representative, 1st Hampshire District, I want to share how impressed I have been with Lindsay Sabadosa’s energy and commitment.

Her positions, well thought through, on health care, energy and transportation are solid and reflect what we actually need to do, and what the future and our children need from the rest of us. We cannot be satisfied that Massachusetts is doing a bit better than most other states, as they fall further behind in the race against cataclysmic climate change under the relentless thumb of this federal administration.

Medicare for All is a quickie shorthand that I am not totally keen on, as a participant in the jumbled chaotic world of Medicare as tweaked and practiced. That said, universal care, publicly funded, privately delivered is within our reach, is the real level playing field for everyone including business owners, particularly when we look at the costs that we currently pay and how much is gobbled up in duplicative administration, co-pays, self-insurance, and the treatment of those who may have MassHealth but have difficulty accessing providers. It won’t be easy, but we need capable energetic and visionary people to get to work on this now.

We need to remove the obstacles to local solar and other renewable generation, accounting for the needs of utilities while making policy and grid-resilient moves forward. This is not about whether one prefers muffins or scones. Fossil fuel generation needs to be wound down for our species to survive and thrive.

Sabadosa is engaging, easy to talk to and trusted by voters across the region and spectrum for her ability to assemble coalitions on common values and needs. She writes and speaks with skill and accuracy, and knows the work of family, community-building, politics and leadership very well.

She has my vote and support, and I ask you to consider her, as well, and join me and so many others, now and through to Sept. 4.
