Jason Thresher wins third straight Massachusetts Open

Jason Thresher tapped in for par on the 18th hole to win the Massachusetts Open for a third straight year, Wednesday at GreatHorse in Hampden.

Thresher carded a three-day score of 11-under 205. He joins Dana Quigley (1982-84), Paul Harney (1967-1970), Harold McSpaden (1936-38) and Alex Ross (1906-10) as three-time winners of the 109-year-old tournament.

Thresher closed with a 70 after opening rounds of 66 and 69, respectively. Evan Harmeling was runner-up at 10 under.

It was essentially a two-man race. Clark Robinson was third at 5 under.

Chris Tallman (Cold Spring Country Club) tied for 44th at 10 over (77-73-76–226).
