HOLYOKE — Police are searching for a 13-year-old girl who was reported missing on Monday.

Eva Sicard was last seen around 8:30 a.m. near Whiting Farms Road and Route 5 near Kmart as she was walking to school, according to a Facebook post by the Holyoke Police Department.

Police describe Sicard as 5 feet, 2 inches tall, weighing around 110 pounds with blue eyes and dirty blond hair. She was last seen wearing a blue sweater with “Hollister” printed on the front, blue jeans and white sneakers.

Anyone with information on Sicard’s whereabouts is asked to call the Holyoke Police Department at 413-322-6900.

Alison Sicard, Sicard’s mother, described her daughter as an “excellent student” who is also a singer and a dancer.

“She’s a really good girl,” Sicard said.

Sicard said that her daughter attends Holyoke STEM Academy, which is three to four miles away from her house, and that she had walked there only once before in the company of a friend. Sicard also said that when her daughter said goodbye to her on Monday, she didn’t indicate that she would be walking to school. She normally takes the bus, according to her mother.

Sicard said that she received a robocall that one of her children was absent or tardy from school Monday afternoon, but that it did not specify which child. Eva Sicard was supposed to meet the family at her older brother’s Holyoke High School football game but did not show up. The family then returned home, and, after it got dark, Sicard called the police. Eva Sicard’s curfew requires her to be home before dark.

“Once it got dark, I knew something was wrong,” Sicard said.

After Sicard publicly posted information about her daughter’s disappearance, she said friends of Eva Sicard reached out and said she had been sad and melancholy. Sicard said that her daughter had not talked about running away. She also said her daughter has many friends, no serious boyfriend and is liked by teachers.
