HOLYOKE — Someone shot at a patrol officer parked at a gas pump on Commercial Street Friday evening, according to police.
In a social media post, the Police Department said that as an officer sat in his car at the gas station, a single bullet struck the front windshield at chest level.
“The bullet missed the officer, the officer called out the event and requested backup,” the post said. “As additional units responded to the area, the scene was secure.”
Police said the department’s Criminal Investigation Bureau determined that the shot came from the area of High Street.
“Holyoke officers searched the area for evidence, witnesses and suspects,” the department said, adding that state police ballistics experts also helped in the investigation.
No arrests have yet been made in the case.
