SPRINGFIELD — A Holyoke man pleaded guilty in federal court Thursday to distributing heroin.

Jayson Quinones, 36, admitted to distributing and possessing with intent to distribute heroin in U.S. District Court in Springfield, according to prosecutors.

Quinones sold heroin in Holyoke on Oct. 7, 2019, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts. His arrest was part of a multi-agency investigation into heroin trafficking in Holyoke last year dubbed “Operation Open Air" in which 42 people were arrested on drug and firearm charges.

Quinones faces up to 20 years in prison, at least three years of supervised release and a fine of $1 million. U.S. District Court Judge Mark G. Mastroianni scheduled Quinones’ sentencing for Sept. 28.
