HOLYOKE — A Chicopee man was arrested Monday night on gun and drug charges after he allegedly cut off detectives on the road while making a turn in his car.

Angel M. Rivera, 29, was pulled over at Appleton and Chestnut streets by Holyoke Police Narcotics Detectives and members of the FBI’s Western Massachusetts Gang Task Force at 5:30 p.m. after he made an “erratic turn” in front of authorities with only one car headlight on, according to Holyoke Police Lt. James Albert. Albert said law enforcement had been on increased patrols in the area due to recent gun violence in the city.

During the stop, police seized a loaded Taurus .38 caliber revolver, approximately 100 bags of heroin, marijuana, a weight scale and $2,254 in cash, Albert said.

Rivera was charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of and possession with intent to distribute heroin, possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony, possession of ammunition without an FID card, possession of a firearm without a license, faulty equipment (headlight), failure to use care in turning and failure to use a turn signal, Albert said. Rivera was scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in Holyoke District Court.
