WORTHINGTON — The Town Democratic Committee’s Sundays with the Candidates series will be hosting a familiar face this Sunday when state Sen. Adam Hinds, D-Pittsfield, who is running for lieutenant governor, makes an appearance.

“It’s one of those moments that confirms for me the value in making sure that every region is represented,” Hinds said when asked for his thoughts on his coming appearance.

Hinds represents Worthington in the state Senate as part of a sprawling western Massachusetts district.

Sundays with the Candidates takes place over Zoom and this Sunday’s event will start at 2 p.m. Those interested in attending can email Worthingtondem@gmail.com with their name and town, and the event is open to all people regardless of residence.

Hinds said he plans to use the event to make the case for someone who knows western Massachusetts to be in the executive branch, as well as to recruit volunteers.

On the subject of volunteers, Hinds pointed to the importance of volunteers for caucuses and gathering signatures to appear on the ballot.

“A lot of people are stepping up,” he said.

In Worthington, Hinds already has the support of Steve Kulik, the area’s former state representative.

“He’s someone who understands that every region is different,” Hinds said.

Hinds cited the issues of regional equity, answering transportation needs and combating climate change as being important to his campaign. He also said that his background as a negotiator in the Middle East has resonated with voters.

After Hinds this coming Sunday, the next candidate scheduled for Sundays with the Candidates will be Quentin Palfrey, who is running for the Democratic nomination for attorney general, on March 13 at 2 p.m. Tanisha Sullivan, who is running for the Democratic nomination for secretary of the commonwealth, will appear on March 27 at 2 p.m.

Sullivan is the president of the Boston Branch of the NAACP, while Palfrey was the 2018 Democratic nominee for lieutenant governor.
