High schools: South Hadley spikes Sabis to qualify for postseason

Kayla Simon had 16 kills and four aces, as the South Hadley girls volleyball team qualified for the postseason with a 3-0 win over Sabis, Wednesday in Springfield.

Brooke Zatowski made 17 digs in a 25-22, 25-23, 25-17 win.

Brooke Conner added 12 assists, while Aislinn Ford had seven kills and four aces for the Tigers (10-3, 3-1 Southern).

Easthampton 3, Belchertown 0 — Autumn Pinard had 10 assists, two aces and four digs in a 25-19, 25-18, 25-16 win. Skylar Raskevitz added 11 digs for Easthampton (6-4, 1-3 Southern).

Devney Horne contributed eight kills, four digs and two blocks, while Valerie Murphy had four assists, three aces and two kills. Annika Devine added six digs, four aces and three kills.

Marissa Courchesne led the Orioles (5-9, 1-3) with nine kills.

Maddison Mallileau had eight assists and four aces.

Frontier Regional 3, Minnechaug 1 — Olivia Deane slapped down a team-best 17 kills and added a team-high 12 digs to lead Frontier to a 22-25, 25-21, 25-23, 25-19 road win over Minnechaug.

Elizabeth Fuqua dished out 31 assists for the Red Hawks (14-1) while Lauren Davenport added 10 kills and 11 digs.

Field hockey

Greenfield 8, South Hadley 2 — The Tigers (5-5-1) fell behind 5-0 at the half en route to the loss to the Green Wave (10-1).

Olivia Wilson and Bree Foley scored, with an assist from Savanah Sudyka.

Brook Blair made seven saves in the first half, while Maddie Fontaine had nine in the second half.

Longmeadow 5, Northampton 0 — Ella Moreau made 21 saves, as the Blue Devils (2-8-4, 0-4-1 Suburban) lost on the road.
