High schools: Smith Vocational girls volleyball spikes Commerce

The Smith Vocational girls volleyball team earned its first win of the season with a 3-1 win over Commerce on Wednesday.

Haleigh Pensivy had 13 kills, one ace and three assists for the Vikings (1-2) in the 25-22, 25-20, 22-25, 25-18 win.

Jordan Dunham had five aces, one dig and three kills. Amber Pensivy had three aces, eight assists and two kills.

Easthampton 3, South Hadley 1 — Kaylee Powers had eight kills and 13 digs for the Eagles (3-1), who won 25-15, 25-19, 16-25, 25-18.

Brianna Santiago had 20 assists, two aces and four digs for Easthampton.

Anna Hellyar had four kills and two blocks for South Hadley (0-4). Kate Wallace had eight digs for the Tigers.

Chicopee 3, Belchertown 1 — Madison Mallalieu had two aces, three kills, one dig and 15 assists for the Orioles (0-2) in their 25-9, 24-26, 25-23, 25-19 road win.

Madison Sefton had two kills, four aces, one dig and two assists. Lauren Majerowski had five kills and one ace.

Girls soccer

Agawam 1, Northampton 1 — The Blue Devils’ lone goal came early in the second half from Caroline Tanner and was assisted by Lila Curley.

Goalkeeper Sydney Lewandowski had 10 saves for Northampton (1-1-1).

“We didn’t capitalize on opportunities we should have,” Northampton coach Vanessa Butynski said.

Agawam out-shot Northampton 14-4.

Belchertown 7, Holyoke 0 — Avery Klingensmith bagged five goals, as the Orioles (1-3, 0-1 Valley South) win their first game of the season.

Alexa Laflamme and Sarah Sedlack each contributed a goal. Kaitlyn Sullivan, Kyleigh Girard and Despina Kofides added an assist each.

Julia Jimenez saved two shots. Taryn Ryan saved 14 shots for the Purple Knights.

Williston 2, Cheshire 0 — Christina Vote and Emily Zambarano scored, while Selena Negron earned the shutout as the Wildcats opened the season with a win.

Field hockey

West Springfield 4, Northampton 2 — Julienne Lussier and Kate Sullivan both scored for the Blue Devils (0-3-1).

Emily Sledzieski had two assists. Ella Moreau had nine saves.
